The Banjara tribe is a group of nomadic people that migrated across India, even predating the arrival of the Mughals! Their eye-catching traditional wear and free-spirited way of living has long served as inspiration to many designers and brands. Alamwar has made a concerted effort to understand the tribe's needs and contribute to the preservation of their crafts and activities.
Alamwar has created a special collection to involve the Banjara women and give them continuing work, and to celebrate the tribe's culture and customs. The brand intimately involves the women in their processes, inviting them to stay at their headquarters for a few days and work closely on design development. The women then take these designs back and distribute work among the whole group.
